EMCERT — Emergency Certification

ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 9001:2026 · Quality Management System

ISO 9001 certification in Bulgaria

ISO 9001 is the world's most widely used management system standard. EMCERT issues accredited ISO 9001 certificates to organisations of every size and sector in Bulgaria — recognised by public contracting authorities and corporate customers across the EU.

What is ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS): understanding your context and customers, leadership commitment, risk-based planning, process control, monitoring, internal audit and continual improvement. Certification confirms, through an independent audit, that your QMS is implemented and effective — not just documented.

Who needs ISO 9001 certification

  • companies bidding in Bulgarian or EU public procurement (Bulgarian Public Procurement Act, Art. 63(1)(10));
  • subcontractors of general contractors and international EPC companies;
  • manufacturers and service providers supplying EU customers;
  • foreign-owned subsidiaries in Bulgaria that need a locally audited certificate.

What our auditors look at

  • context of the organisation and interested parties
  • leadership and quality policy
  • risks and opportunities, quality objectives
  • operational control of processes, products and services
  • internal audit and management review
  • nonconformity, corrective action and improvement

The certification process

  1. Quote — we define the audit scope (employees, sites, processes) and send an individual quote.
  2. Stage 1 audit — review of your documented system and readiness for the on-site audit.
  3. Stage 2 audit — on-site audit of how the system works in practice.
  4. Certification decision — the accredited certificate is issued for a three-year cycle.
  5. Surveillance and recertification — surveillance audits at 12 and 24 months, recertification before month 36.

ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026. Organisations certified to ISO 9001:2015 must complete their transition by 30 September 2029 (Global ACI transition requirements).

We are a certification body, not a consultancy: we audit and certify; we do not help design or write the management system we certify. More about us.

Frequently asked questions

Is an EMCERT ISO 9001 certificate valid outside Bulgaria?
Yes. EMCERT is accredited by the Bulgarian Accreditation Service (BAS / ИА БСА), a signatory of the EA Multilateral Agreement, so accredited certificates are recognised across the EU and internationally through Global ACI arrangements.
How much does ISO 9001 certification cost?
We do not publish fixed prices. The audit scope depends on the number of employees, sites and processes, and on whether you combine standards. You receive an individual quote with no hidden fees.
Do you help us implement ISO 9001?
No. As an accredited certification body we cannot consult the organisations we certify (ISO/IEC 17021-1). You implement the system yourself or with an independent consultant; we audit and certify it.
