What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 sets requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system: hazard identification and risk assessment, legal requirements, worker consultation and participation, operational control, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and continual improvement.

The certification process
- Quote — we define the audit scope (employees, sites, processes) and send an individual quote.
- Stage 1 audit — review of your documented system and readiness for the on-site audit.
- Stage 2 audit — on-site audit of how the system works in practice.
- Certification decision — the accredited certificate is issued for a three-year cycle.
- Surveillance and recertification — surveillance audits at 12 and 24 months, recertification before month 36.

Frequently asked questions
- Has ISO 45001 replaced OHSAS 18001?
- Yes. OHSAS 18001 was withdrawn; ISO 45001 is the international standard for OH&S management systems.
- Is ISO 45001 only for construction?
- No. It applies to any organisation with occupational health and safety risks — manufacturing, logistics, energy, utilities, healthcare and services as well as construction.
- Do you provide OH&S consulting?
- No. EMCERT is a certification body; consulting the organisations we certify is not allowed under ISO/IEC 17021-1.
